i got a letter today saying i am being held back. joy. another thing to make my day better. not only did i have to bike to school, but i had to bike to school in a skirt. i also had to bike home in a skirt, with a violin on my back, in the pouring rain. so i think i'll go back to watching buffy now and singing "where have all the post-its gone?"
ta.
ok. i think i am sick. i threw up at ed debevic's. i threw up at home the next day after feis stuff. i threw up at the feis. i almost threw up this morning after taking a single bite of my crepe. but am i going to the doctor? hell no. i have been successful drinking fluids (hehe funny word) and eating one food in particular. chocolate. i kid you not.
on another note, i saw an awesome film last night. i highly recommend it. it's called full frontal and its directed by steven soderbergh. it was so funny and very interesting. it's about a bunch of people living in la. they all have weird lives and some are crazier than others (i.e. catherine keener), but all of them are really funny and terribly interesting. see it. but, um, it's r do you'd have to see it with someone.
on another note, has anyone else ever listened to music with a bucket on their head? it's terribly interesting.
Adam Winkelmann posted: Kim, it might have sucked, but I was too drunk on that damn punch to notice. :-) Actually, it was decent. I really liked sitting on the rocks and talking with everyone.
i saw the best short films today. i was watching the IFC short film showcase and i saw two of the best damn short films ever! one was called dog days. oh my. it was amazing. it's about america at war. there are no animals, not much food, not many people. but there is a guy in a dog suit. the family is taken aback by him and kind of makes him their guard dog and pet. the girl in the family and the mother really forge a relationship with the "dog", as weird as that is. the father actually had a "conversation" with the "dog" where he yelled at it. he said that he really was a man, so he should just stand up and talk to him. the dog doesn't. well, the two older brothers were talking about all the things they could eat, like a steak for instance, and all sorts of weird delacacies in different countries. well, the conversation continues and one of the brothers says that in Korea they eat dog. the father then gets this look in his eyes. he picks up his gun and is walking out the door. his wife and daughter are going nuts telling him that he's a man, he couldn't kill a man. the father retorts that he isn't a man. oy, the ending was sad. it doesn't end there though. i don't really want to tell about the shooting-of-the-dog-man.
the second one i saw was one directed by Jay Rosenblatt called human remains. it was about all these different dictators. it started out with hitler. there was a german voice narrating it and an english voice over. it talked about all the things he liked to do, like it was actually hitler talking. in the background it was old footage of hitler. it was really interesting. the next one was mussolini, then some spanish dude, then stalin, then mao. it was really really interesting. like, for instance, did you know mao never bathed, nor did he brush his teeth. he washed them with tea. he also smoked 70-80 cigarettes a day. whoa. it was like the dictators were narrating stories about themselves, it was truly wonderful. if you guys have an opportunity to see short films, by all means do.
another one i saw was awful, though. it was called zoe. it wasn't terribly interesting. one that was good, but not excellent, was cusp.
there are also two that are really funny that i am sure some of you would enjoy, the hat and tex, the passive-agressive gunslinger. oy, i love indies.
